Growing up an hour west of Philadelphia in the small town of Shillington, I can no longer remember the time when golf wasn’t a part of my life. I was fortunate enough to be introduced by my late dear Poppy at a young age. While plenty of friends and peers scoffed at playing golf growing up, there was something about it that had me hooked immediately.
Whether it’s the ability to evaluate, gauge, and hone in our game to seek the results we desire, the many different fundamental skills and areas of which we practice to achieve our on-course goals, or the simple fact that no one shot is ever the same. The trajectory of a round can change in one swing. That feeling when we’ve had every bad break possible and nothing seems to be going our way, to the point we just want to give up. Then, somehow, some way, something clicks and it all starts coming together in time to finish the round on a high note. Or those times we’re having the round of a lifetime, just to have the wheels begin to fall off down the stretch as we watch that personal best slowly slipping out of our grip. Although many moments can be humbling, those glimpses of greatness always bring us back. At the end of the day, it’s you against the course. Only we can control what happens over a stretch of 18 holes. Even if we’re in the midst of our worst round ever, the struggle and madness never truly feels like a wasted 4 hours. We can still find that magic. We’ve done it before. All it takes is one swing. Sometimes we have to sit back and remind ourselves:
"A bad day at the course will always beat a good day at work."
After finishing school at the Golf Academy of America in Myrtle Beach in 2013, I worked at The Philadelphia Cricket Club for 5 years, starting as a caddie and eventually becoming assistant caddie master. Heading into my 30’s, I traded in the 5-9 for the 9-5 and joined US Hole In One, America’s leading hole in one insurance provider. Needless to say, golf, to me, isn’t a hobby. It is a lifestyle. The Golf Block is a testament to that notion. The game is already difficult enough focusing on every little detail like swing plane vs. club path, posture angles and angle of attack, or our strategy and approach towards each shot. I wanted to give all the super-playas and weekend-warriors out there more confidence and comfort knowing they got it all “in the bag.” I’ve spent the last several years researching, designing, and developing the Golf Block trying to simplify the way we view the game by eliminating unnecessary outside distractions. Whether you just picked up golf like a bad habit or have been an addict for years, there are many benefits to making it part of your game, including but not limited to:
HAVE FUN & HIT 'EM STRAIGHT
*While we do not guarantee the Golf Block will lead to lower scores and a better game, we do guarantee that having your act together on the golf course is one less thing you will ever worry about again!
